Ontario RAT 1 Folding Tactical Knife Review by Nutnfancy
nutnfancy — July 16, 2008 — I had previously passed on this knife due to its $70 price and 5.2 0z weight. But at the current price of around $35 I have found it's a steal. The Model 1 by Ontario has an outstanding utility/tactical blade shape, offset angle, good materials, pillar construction, super fast deployment, good balance, and tight lockup. After I lightened this knife with some liner hole drilling, I managed to get its weight down to reasonable 4.8 oz. All without losing strength. Ontario did have to save some money at this price point and did so with the slick Zytel scales and cheesy painted black blade. But it's still an OUTSTANDING tactical folder offering, especially at the price, and it comes razor sharp out of the box. The more I use this knife the more I like it. Get it while you can.
