Lone Wolf Longhorn Vs. CS American Lawman Nutnfancy Review
Two tough tactical folders square off in this Nutnfancy Showdown. In this Philosophy of Use, the user has accepted a bit more carry weight to gain more strength which is often afforded with full stainless steel lined tactical folding knives. The Cold Steel "American Lawman" weighs in for the fight at 5.5 ounces, wears a black Teflon coated 3.5 inch AUS8A drop point blade, housed in full SS liners with aggressively textured G10 handles, and boasts of its strong "Tri-Ad" Locking mechanism. The good looking Lone Wolf "Longhorn" is billed as a semi-custom blade that stands ready for equally rough military/LEO/civilian sheepdog service. It features a matte finished 3.5 inch S30V modified drop point blade, full SS liners, quality G10 scales, and an elegant but strong clip. Going down the list of Nutnfancy talking points, I compare these two hard use folders in terms of portability, weight, steel, blade shape, deployment speed, lockup and strength, handle materials, ergonomics, clip design, durability, value, and cool factor. The CS American Lawman is a lot of knife for the money and in the deployed position, wins the ergonomic battle. Also it has a stronger lock, better spine jimping, and promises outstanding durability (unless abused!). But Lone Wolf Longhorn jumps ahead with its premium steel, faster deployment, better clip execution, lighter weight, smaller carry size, good value, and more exclusivity. Neither is completely satisfactory to me however: The Lawman is too chunky for me in carry, the Lone Wolf forced clip position lacks versatility, and each knife could benefit with a skeletonizing job on the liners that would lighten the load without sacrificing any strength. But both get a lot of things right. So while both knives are excellent choices, it is the Lone Wolf comes home with the Gold. /////////////////////// Nutnfancy Likeability Scale for CS American Lawman: 6 of 10/////////////////////// Nutnfancy Likeability Scale for Lone Wolf Longhorn: 8 of 10 //////////////////// Song is called Dirty Girls by Torley Wong
